Police Officers attached to the Zimmi Police in MakpeleChiefdom, Pujehun District have called on the Inspector General of Police to immediately spring into action to ensuring the renovation of the Police Station that is in bad shape, so that they cannot be disturbed by the incessant rains.
Speaking to this medium, some of the police officers claimed that when it is raining it will be difficult to even sit at the veranda, and that they are embarrassed when complainants come and they cannot occupy the veranda to wait while they are obtaining statements from other complainants or suspects.
One of the complainants, Brima Konneh said it is indeed an embarrassing for the Sierra Leone Police and it will be good for the stakeholders in the community and the Inspector General of Police to speedily intervene as raining season is fast approaching.
The Officer Commanding the Zimmi Police Station, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Sorie Kamara said that it has come to his knowledge that the police station needs renovation and therefore called on the Regional Police Commander in the southern region to look into their concerns.
He said “I came to the Zimmi Police Station to change the narrative of policing as there have been sour relationship between my predecessor and the community people but it is good to note that the relationship is now cordial.”
DSP Kamara said there is no security threat in my operational area and called on the people of Zimmi and its environs to report to the police any act of criminality, adding that “as somebody who has been heading community relations in Bo, I am also implementing community policing in my area of operation and this has in fact made my area to have no alarming security threat.”
