Ali Jaffal, Abdul Jaffal, Abdallah Jaffal, Mohamed Jaffal, Abass Antar, Naif Antar and Hassan Jaffal made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on seven count charges to wit two count ranging from Wounding, Assault, Affray, throwing missiles and Behaving in the disorderly manner.
According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 6th April 2024 at the Young Sports Club YSC facility Wilkinson road the western area in Freetown maliciously wounded Adam Hamdan.
Count two the accused persons on the same date and place maliciously wounded Mohamed Aroune.
Count three and four on the same date and place the accused persons assaulted Adam Hamdan and Mohamed Aroune.
Count five the accused persons on the same date and place were found fighting with intent to put the public into fear.
Count six on the same date and place the accused persons were found throwing stones, sticks to put the public into fear.
Count seven the accused persons on the above date and place were found behaving in the disorderly manner in a public place.
The State prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay Esq Led in evidence prosecution witness number three Sergeant Alusine Forlarine lives at #84 Ojuku junction, Allen Town attached to the foreign national unit at the CID headquarters Freetown.
He said he recognizes the accused persons in the dock.
He recalled on the 9th April 2024, he was on duty at his office when he was asked to associate with the Head investigator in the matter; himself and 18701 Conteh H further interviewed the 7th accused.
He was cautioned and questioned in krio language which was recorded in English language.
At the conclusion of the statement, it was read over and explained to the accused person in krio which he admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand thumbprint Dpc 18701 signed as the witness and he signed as the recorder.
The statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records
On the 25th April 2024 himself together with Sergeant 12192 Foday P.K charged the third accused with the offence of riotous conduct, Disorderly behavior, Affray and wounding.
The witness said, he uses the same procedure applied in his caution statement, upon that Sergeant 12192 signed as the witness and he signed as the recorder.
The charge statement of the third accused person was produce and tendered in court to form part of the court records, he concluded.
Prosecution witness number four, Inspector Mohamed Kargbo reside at Wellington attached at the Criminal Investigation Department CID headquarters Pademba Road Freetown said he recognized all the accused persons in the dock.
He recalled on the 12th April 2024 he was on duty at the said office when he obtained an additional caution statement from the second accused person, himself together with Inspector F.J Moosa cautioned and questioned the accused person in krio language which was recorded in English language. At the conclusion of the statement, it was read over and explained to the accused person in krio language which he admitted to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand thumbprint witnessed by Inspector F.J Moosa.
The statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
On the same day the second accused person was charged with the offence of riotous conduct, Disorderly behavior, Affray and wounding with the same procedure on his caution statements, the statement was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
Prosecution witness number five Dpc 19301 Bockarie Tunde attached to the foreign national unit at the Criminal Investigation Department CID headquarters Pademba Road Freetown he recognized the fourth accused person in the dock.
He recalled on the 8th April 2024 himself and DPC 19325 Amara C.A obtained further voluntary caution statement from the fourth accused person he was cautioned and question in krio language which was recorded in English language.
At the conclusion of the statement it was read over and explained to the accused person in krio language, which he admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand thumbprint.
Witnessed by Dpc 19325 Amara C.A and he signed as the recorder, the statement of the accused person was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records.
The witnesses were cross examined by J.J Vandy Esq and J.A.M.M Amara Esq.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to the 14th August 2024 bail continues for all accused persons.
