Youths in asset theft

Sheku Marrah and Vandi Bangura has appeared before magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court in Freetown on two count Charges to wit Larceny by a servant contrary to section 17(i)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916 and receiving stolen Goods contrary to section 33(i) of the Larceny Act 1916.

It was alleged on the charge sheet that on the 1st May 2021at Deen Drive Gbangbayilla hill station in Freetown being a clerk or servant employed by Elizabeth Kamara stole eighty six big cartoons tiles valued fifteen million four hundred and eighty thousand Leones (15,480,000,00)and thirty three small cartoons tiles valued two million six hundred and fifty thousand Leones (2,640,000/00) all to the total value of eighteen million one hundred and twenty thousand Leones (18,120,000/00)property of the complainant Elizabeth Kamara and on the other count it was alleged that accused no.2 received three cartoons of big tiles value five hundred and forty thousand Leones (540,000) from Sheku Marrah knowing same to have been stolen.

PW1 Elizabeth Kamara the complainant testified in court that he recognized both accused persons in the matter and recalled on 1st May 2021. The witness told the court on that day she discovered that there were some missing tiles which was about one hundred and nineteen cartoons worth the sum of eighteen million one hundred and twenty thousand Leones (18,120,000).

PW 1 said on the same date she confronted the first accused person about the missing tiles, but he denied the accusation.  The witness said she went to New England Ville police station herself and the police came to the scene of the crime and the first accused person was arrested and brought to the police station.

The first accused was unrepresented while the second accused was represented by R.M Coker who applied for bail for and on behalf of the second accused person but magistrate refused and sent the accused person back to the Male correctional service in Freetown.  

Sergeant 11403 Kpulun M.E prosecuting the matter and it was adjourned to the 27th May 2021.
