Abubakarr Bengeh made his first appearance before magistrate Mark Ngegba of pademba road court No.2 in Freetown on one count charge to wit house breaking and Larceny contrary to section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the charge sheets it was alleged that on the 12th June 2021 at Bam Road the western Area in Freetown entered the house of the complainant with intent to break and steal one Black DVD player valued two hundred and fifty thousand Leones (Le 250,000,) one black musical set value one million Leones (le 1,000,000) and a physical cash of four million seven hundred thousand Leones (le 4,700,000) all to the total value of five million nine hundred and fifty thousand Leones (5,950,000) property of M’balu Bangura.
Prosecution witness number one M’balu Bangura a business woman narrating her ordeal said she recalled on the 12th June 2021 and recognized the accused person on this matter.
She said on that day she went to her mother in law along the same axis on her way back she find her door was broken and she locked it before going to her mother in law.
She said later, she entered the house and did not see her DVD, her black musical set and physical cash of four million seven hundred thousand Leones.
She was on the search when one lady came to her.
They later find a black bag that belongs to her kids; she opened it and saw assorted things and a cold cap that did not belong to her.
She said she started asking people around to identify the cap.
One of the bike riders told her that the cap belongs to the accused person and the accused person said the cap belongs to his brother.
She said they apprehended the accused and took him to the central police station.
The police came and took pictures of the crime scene and statement was obtained from her and witness said the bag was in the custody of the police.
Sergeant 11223 Bona B is prosecuting the matter which is adjourned to the 8th July 2021.
