Sahr Kangbai made his first appearance before Magistrate Samuel Koroma at Pademba Road Court No. 4 on Monday, 4th July 2025, on a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court records, on Saturday, 8th July 2025, at Phase 2, Gbangba-Yilla, Hill Station in the Mountain Rural District of the Western Area, Kangbai allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use a red HLX motorcycle with registration number AVI 199, valued at Le27,000, along with an additional amount, bringing the total value to Le27,550. The motorcycle had been entrusted to him by Ann Marie Gbondo for commercial use.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
State Prosecutor, Sergeant 10261 Kargbo K., requested a short adjournment as his witnesses were not present in court.
Due to the nature of the offence, Magistrate Koroma refused bail and ordered the accused to be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to 12th August 2025 for further proceedings.
