The Ministry of Youth Affairs, under the leadership of Minister Ibrahim Sannoh, has entered into a strategic partnership with the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center (NCCC) to train and empower approximately 2,000 young Sierra Leoneans in the field of cybersecurity.
The agreement was formalized following a high-level meeting between Minister Sannoh and the National Cybersecurity Coordinator, Mrs. Mariama Yormah. The initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance youth employability and equip the next generation with critical 21st-century digital skills.
Minister Sannoh highlighted the importance of cybersecurity in Sierra Leone’s socio-economic development.
“As we navigate an increasingly digital world, it is imperative that our youth are equipped with the necessary skills to protect our nation’s cyber infrastructure. This collaboration is a vital step toward ensuring our young people are not only employable but also capable of contributing meaningfully to the security of our digital landscape,” he stated.
Echoing the Minister’s remarks, Mrs. Mariama Yormah emphasized that cybersecurity is integral to both national security and economic growth.
“Cybersecurity is not just a technical field it is a critical area that impacts every facet of our society. By investing in the training of our youth, we are not only creating job opportunities but also nurturing a generation capable of safeguarding Sierra Leone’s digital future,” she noted.
This joint initiative between the Ministry of Youth Affairs and the NCCC marks a significant investment in Sierra Leone’s digital resilience. It aims to equip young people with in-demand skills, enhancing their prospects both locally and globally, while also strengthening the nation’s capacity to address emerging cyber threats.
