Ibrahim Wurrie, a pupil, made his first appearance before Magistrate Augustine Brima Samura at Pademba Road Court No. 4 in Freetown, facing a charge of larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Wednesday, 7th May 2025, at No. 49 Bewick Street in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly stole the sum of one thousand two hundred Leones (Le 1,200), property of Isata Lamarana Jalloh.
Prosecuting the matter, Sergeant 1306 Augusta B. Sesay requested a short adjournment to hold a proper conference with her witness
Defense counsel A.R. Gbla Esq. applied for bail on behalf of the accused, stating that Wurrie is a Sierra Leonean resident within the jurisdiction. Counsel further noted that the accused has reliable sureties who are ready and willing to stand in recognizance, and assured the court that Wurrie would not interfere with prosecution witnesses. The application was made pursuant to Section 79(3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965.
Magistrate Samura granted bail in the sum of five thousand Leones (Le 5,000), with one surety in like sum. The surety must be ordinarily resident in Freetown and must produce valid identification, either a national passport or a national identity card, displaying their residential address. Bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
The matter was adjourned to 2nd June 2025.
