The Western Area Urban District Football Association’s young football stars took center stage as the Western Area Urban District Football Association’s U-14 and U-12 competitions kicked off in a blaze of excitement.
The Trade Center playing field welcomed the eager teams, with the U-12 clash between P.S Zizo and Wilberforce Cubs setting the tone for a fiery tournament.
Technical Director of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Mr. Bah, had the honor of launching the competition with the official kickoff.
Both teams impressed the crowd with their skillful displays, but it was Chenor Munu who grabbed the headlines with the game’s only goal.
His outstanding performance earned him the well-deserved Man of the Match award.
In the U-14 category, HADA FC emerged as early favorites after their commanding 3-0 victory over Eastend Lions Jr.
Ibrahim Amara’s first-half brace put HADA in the driver’s seat, and substitute Abubakarr Mansaray sealed the deal with a late strike.
Their dominant display left fans mesmerized and eager to see more.
The opening day witnessed a distinguished audience, including the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association, Thomas Daddy Brima, Youth Football Coordinator Alimamy Kurash Conteh, Technical Director Mr. Bah, International Ambassador of Leone Stars Christian Dauda and a host of former Leone Stars players.
The excitement continues, with matches scheduled to play at both the Trade Center playing field and the Kaytee Field.
This year’s WAUDFA Youth League promises to be a showcase of Freetown’s up-and-coming football talent, and with the competition already brimming with drama and skill, fans are sure to be in for a treat.
