Lamin Kamara arraigned before magistrate Isata Sellu Tucker of pademba road court No.4 in Freetown on one count charge to wit obtaining money by false pretense contrary to section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet it was alleged that on diverse dates between the 1st November 2020 and 30th November 2020 at 15 upper west street brooks street the western Area in Freetown with intent to defraud obtained certain property that is to say the sum of seventeen million Leones.
Prosecution witnesses number two Yusif Kamara, a student on his testimony told the court that he recognized the complainant as the mother of his friend and he recognized the accused person on the day when the complainant went to his house to give him some amount for the purpose of travelling to New Zealand.
The witness said he recalled the said date he was at home, when the complainant asked him to accompany her to the house of the accused person at upper brook street in Freetown.
The accused send them to his wife and they made first payment of ten million Leones and other payment of seven million Leones to the wife of the accused person and the accused person confirmed to them that he has received the money.
The witness said the purpose of which the transaction is made is for the accused person to send the son of the complainant in a program for him to travel to New Zealand.
They later found out that it was fake so they went to the central police station and made statement.
The witness said statement was obtained from him and the complainant.
W.C Oluba is representing the accused person who renewed his application for bail.
The accused person was not granted bail, he was sent back to the male correctional center in Freetown.
The matter is prosecuted by ASP Sahid Conteh; the matter has been adjourned to the 30th July 2021.
