Aruna Kamara, Alias Tranga Ace yesterday appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 in Freetown for allegedly conspiring with unknown persons and entered into Abass Kabia’s house and stole therein a Samsung Galaxy A11 android mobile phone and silver chain totaling ten thousand Leones (NLe10, 000).

The incident occurred on Sunday 5th August, 2023 at No. 14A Sesay Lane, Kissy, Freetown.

The accused was arrested on 10th August, 2023 by Police Constable (PC ) 19312 Moiwa C.

Aruna was arraigned before the court on two counts charges of conspiracy and larceny in dwelling house contrary to law.

It was alleged that the accused, on Sunday 5th August, 2023 at the aforesaid place in Freetown, conspired with unknown persons to commit a crime, to wit, larceny in a dwelling house.

Led in evidence by Chief Inspector Isatu Bangura prosecution witness 1, Abass Kabia residing in Freetown said he recognized the accused as his neighbour and could recall Sunday 5th August, 2023.

Kabia said on the day in question, he alighted from a motorbike at P.W.D Junction, the accused asked him to give him money to buy food as he want to eat.

In his response, he said he and the accused went at his residence, adding that upon their arrival, he got a call and he came outside.

After few seconds, he said when he went inside the parlor; he found out that the accused had left the crime scene.

The witness said he then closed the door slightly and went to sleep.

He said when he woke up, he discovered that his Samsung Galaxy A11 android mobile valued at NLe3, 000 and silver chain valued at NLe7, 000 all totaling NLe10, 000 has got missing.

‘My Lord, I got information from my next door neighbour that the accused later came at my premises.

“One of my friends, Alusine Sankoh informed me that he saw the accused with stolen items,” Kabia explained to the court.

Upon receipt of the information, he said he reported the matter to the P.W.D Police Post Ferry Junction where he made a statement.

Kabia said subsequently the accused was arrested at ghetto P.W.D Junction and handed over to the police.

During cross examination by defence counsel Musa A. Kamara he confronted the witness that he never saw the accused with his alleged Samsung  Galaxy A11 android mobile and silver chain, which he responded in the affirmative.

Lawyer Kamara puts it to the witness that the incident allegedly occurred at Amazing Guest House he responded in the affirmative.

Mr Kamara suggested to him apart from him and the accused other people went to the said guest house which he answered in the affirmative.

He put it the witness that being that he was sleeping when the incident occurred he could not tell what exactly happened

Responding, he answered in the affirmative.

Eventually, lawyer Kamara suggested to him that he had no documents to show the court that he was the owner of the alleged stolen items.

In response, he said yes

Lawyer Kamara applied for bail on behalf of his client, responding Magistrate Kekura denied the accused bail and remanded him at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba Road in Freetown.

The matter was adjourned to 13th September, 2023 for further hearing.
