Wusum Stars Football Club on 12th April 2023 stunned F.C Kallon Football Club at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni. The Fixtures is a rescheduled match of the first round of the Sierra Leone Premier League.
The match was a pace play from the two teams as the host was more determined to win as they occupy the bottom of the log in the Premier League.
The FC Kallon striker, Sallie Tarawallie scored the early goal of the match in the 19th minute of play through a counter-attack and took a beautiful shot to give the lead to the visitors. But in the last three minutes of play, Saymah Kamara scored a stunning free-Kick to level the terms in the first half of the game.
After the recess, both teams return to the pitch of play with high determination of snatching all three points.
Mahmoud Fofanah and Sallieu Tarawallie came close to getting the winning goal but the solid defensive work of the host Wusum Stars stood firm to be denied any chance from FC Kallon taking any lead.
In the 73rd minute, Alhassan Conteh scores the vital goal to give Wusum Stars all three points as the win lip frog them from (the 18) position to the 17 positions in the first round of the Premier League table.
Three of FC Kallon’s defeats (4) happened away from home but still maintain the third spot with twenty-nine points (W8, D5).
In the other match at the Government Trade Centre Field; Ibrahim Kamara scored a stunning 89th-minute winner when Lamboi FC came from two goals down to beat East End Tigers at Trade Center.
Tigers took the lead after 5 minutes through Joseph Kamara and went 2-0 via Ibrahim Keita’s fine goal but Lamboi levelled the score line with goals by Ibrahim Kamara and Sulaiman Turay before Ibrahim struck again.
The striker, who also scored a brace in Lamboi’s 3-1 win against Wusum Stars on March 11, has now registered nine goals in the league, making him the highest goal scorer.
This is the newcomers’ seventeenth match of the season, having won six, drawn four, and lost seven, accounting for twenty-two points.
East End Tigers are rock bottom with thirteen points, losing their tenth match of the season.
The Premier League’s second-phase matches will kick-start today as the East derby will unfold at the Government trade centre field East End Lions will welcome bitter rival Port Authority at the 4:15 pm Kick-off, while Real Republican will entertain Old Edwardian Football a club at Angola Field.
While Saturday across the Country we see a host of matches as the Current Champions Bo Rangers will travel to Freetown to face Wilberforce Strike at the Parade at 4:15 Kick-off time.
