Victoria Finney made her first appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on three court charges to wit causing grievous bodily harm with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to section 20 of the offences against the person Act 1861 and Assault occasioning actual bodily harm contrary to section 47 of the offences against the person Act 1861.
According to the particulars of offence, on Tuesday 19th October 2021 at No.48 Victoria Street the western area in Freetown the accused caused grievous bodily harm, maliciously wounding and Assault of Alusine Kanu.
First Prosecution Witness, Alusine Kanu, a dispenser said he recognized the accused person as his fiancée and recalled on the 19th October 2021 he went to the environment where the accused person resides to treat someone.
He said he took the medication out of his bag, and as he was about to connect the intravenous medication the accused person arrived asking him for Lunch for his daughter.
Witness said he told her he doesn’t have much and he took five thousand Leones from his pocket and gave it to the accused person and she took the child to school on her way she took his face mask along.
He explained that the accused person came and she requested for his face mask but noted that he don’t to go home without his face marks.
He said the accused person took the flask and poured hot water on him; later the accused broke raw eggs and rub it on him.
He said the neighbors took photos of him and he went to Adelaide Street police station where he was issued police medical form he went to Connaught hospital and came with the medical form to the police station where statement was obtained from him and his witness.
Counsel representing the accused person J. Wills applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person pursuant to section 79 (2) of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965 and the bail regulation 2019 noting that she is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction.
Counsel said she has reliable sureties who are willing to enter into recognizance on her behalf and she is not a flight risk.
Magistrate Gogra adjourned the matter to the 15th November 2021 inspector Mabel M. Tarawallie prosecuting the matter.
