Mariatu Koroma has on the 30th March, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Keikura in Freetown on three count charges to wit wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the offences against the person Act 1861, Wounding contrary to section 20 of the offence against the person Act 1861 and assault Occasioning Actual bodily Harm contrary to section 47 of the offence against the Person Act 1861.
According to the charge sheet, on the 30th January 2021 at Saint Charles Drive Regent Freetown, accused wounded, Sahid Nasrala with intent to render him grievous bodily harm.
The Lawyers representing the accused person M. Massaquoi, E. Kamara, H.D Timbo, U.F.D Sesay, F.I Kamara, H.D Timbo applied for bail on behalf of the accused person and said that she is a Sierra Leonean and has reliable surety who are ready to stand her bond and that she is not a flight risk nor will she jump bail.
The lead legal representative said his client will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses and he made this application pursuant to section 23(4) of the constitution of Sierra Leone 1991 Act No. 6 and said that accused person is presume innocent until found guilty. He also made the application pursuant to section 79 (2) and (3) of CAP No. 32 of 1965.
The said Magistrate having heard the bail application made for the accused person and taken into consideration the allegation before him he refused bail. The accused Mariatu Koroma is presently remanded at the Female Correctional Center in Freetown.
ASP Aminatu Daboh is prosecuting the matter adjoined to the 1st April 2021.
