Sao Jalloh, third Police Witness (PW3) has testified before Magistrate Marke Ngegba in Freetown Magistrate on the 9th March, 2021in a matter involving Babatunde Decker (accused) who is charged with five counts ranging from conspiracy, robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone.
The witness said he recognized the accused persons and the complainant Abdulai Barrie. On that fateful day, the witness said his wife called him on a telephone around 3:40 am to inform him about noise she is getting from the compound of his boss. Upon arrival at the gate he met three people in a vehicle. He later saw one of them climbing the stairs of the complainant.
The witness decided to call two of his colleagues and on their way they met the thieves holding cutlass, iron rod, power saw etc. The witness decided to enter one of the vehicles in the compound to chase them and captured one of thieves whilst his colleges were beating him with sticks
He later reported the matter to the Adonkia police station, and a police medical request form was issued to him.
During cross examination, the accused person Babatunde Decker said all what the witness has testifies against him was untrue, and denied all charges.
It would be recalled that on the 18th December,2020, at No.20 Elizabeth lane of Milton Margai College, Godrich Freetown that Babatunde Decker, conspired with other persons unknown to commit a felony, to wit, robbery with aggravation.
Particulars of offence, Babatunde Decker alias Boika was armed with offensive weapons, robbed Abdulai Barrie of the following items one Samsung S9 mobile phone valued six hundred and seven Euros (E607) equivalent to six million five hundred thousand Leones (Le.6, 500,000), one Samsung S10 mobile phone valued six hundred euros (E600) equivalent to six million Leone (Le.6, 000,000) etc. all sum to the total of value of thirty-one million six hundred thousand Leones.
Sergeant Taylor is prosecuting the matter and there was no lawyer representing the accused person. Matter adjourned to the 24th March.
