Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 has committed Isata Bindi to stand trial at the High Court for the alleged killing of her husband, Mustapha Bangura, during a domestic dispute.

Bindi was arrested following an incident on April 2, 2025, at their shared residence on Williams Drive, off Aberdeen Road in Freetown. She was formally charged with manslaughter, contrary to law, and brought before the court on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

During the preliminary investigation, the prosecution presented three witnesses, all of whom were cross-examined. Magistrate Jah noted that the witnesses’ testimonies were consistent and corroborated one another, strengthening the prosecution’s case.

“Having reviewed the evidence presented, I am satisfied that the prosecution has led sufficient evidence to warrant a trial at the High Court,” said Magistrate Jah.

He further ordered that the senior crime officer handling the case prepare and tender all necessary exhibits during the High Court proceedings.

Bindi, addressing the court, indicated her intention to testify in her own defense and to call witnesses during the High Court trial.

Magistrate Jah committed the matter to the High Court without bail, and the accused remains in custody pending further proceedings.
