Isata Bindi was arraigned on Friday, July 19th, 2025, before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1. She faces charges for allegedly stabbing her husband to death with a knife.
Bindi was charged with one count of Manslaughter, contrary to law. According to the charge sheet, on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, at Aberdeen Road in Freetown, Bindi unlawfully killed Mustapha Bangura.
No plea was taken by the accused because the offense is grave. Prosecutor ASP Ibrahim Mansaray requested an adjournment, stating that witnesses were not present in court and that he had only just received the case file.
The matter was adjourned to July 21st, 2025, for hearing.
Court documents confirm that the accused, Bindi, and the deceased, Mustapha Bangura, were husband and wife living together with their two children. Both originated from the same district in Bo, where their relationship began and led to marriage.
The file further states that the couple had experienced ongoing quarrels and were no longer on speaking terms. On the day of the incident, a domestic altercation escalated, during which Bindi allegedly used a sharp object to stab her husband, resulting in his death.
