Abdul Sesay, a 46-year-old welder, has made another court appearance before Magistrate Mamakoh Saio Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown. He is facing one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, contrary to Section 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act, 1861.
According to the charge, the alleged incident occurred on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Lightfoot Boston Street, in the Western Area of Freetown, where the accused is said to have assaulted Alieu Kamara, causing him actual bodily harm.
DPC 12090 Zainab Bangura led the second prosecution witness, Alie Tamba, a carpenter, who testified that he knew both the accused and the complainant. Tamba recalled that on the date in question, he had gone to buy building materials and initially interacted with the complainant, who sold him some items. He then proceeded to another vendor to purchase additional materials.
On his way, Tamba said he overheard the accused using abusive language. The complainant attempted to calm the situation, but the accused allegedly *bit the complainant on his left hand and struck him in the right eye. As the complainant fell to the ground, the accused allegedly kicked him on the side. Bystanders intervened and restrained the accused, after which the witness gave a statement to the police.
The accused cross-examined the witness during the proceedings.
Magistrate Kallon adjourned the matter to June 10, 2025, while the accused continues to be out on bail.
