In his statement to the Press just after presenting his credentials to President Bio, the New United States Ambassador Bryan David Hunt, has on Monday the 11th of September 2023, assured citizens of Sierra Leone that the United States has been and would always be a strong supporter towards to development of development in Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Bryan David Hunt expressed profound elation for the warmest reception and red carpet welcome the government and people of Sierra Leone accorded him and his team. He particularly expressed thanks and appreciation for the hospitality the government and people of Sierra Leone accorded him. He assured pressmen that his mission is in Sierra Leone is to advance democratic progress for the people of Sierra Leone and deepen the long-lasting bilateral relationship between the two countries.
The new U.S Ambassador also assured the Bio-led administration that the United States had always been and would always be a strong supporter of development in Sierra Leone. He added that the United States is also looking forward to more democratic and inclusive society in Sierra Leone. He also expressed delight that President Bio is set to attend the United Nations General Assembly in New York. He also added that Sierra Leone is equally prepared to take its rightful seats in the United Nations Security Council which he described as a great level of responsibility for the nation.
‘’The President of Sierra Leone and his Chief Minister are ready to attend the United Nations General Assembly and this is a very significance progress and Sierra Leone is ready to take its seat at the United Nations Security Council which comes with a great responsibility at the global stage. It also comes with partnerships between the United States and Sierra Leone as we work to uphold that values. With that ladies and gentlemen of the press, it was very wonderful to be here and I am looking forward to travelling across the country to better understand concerns of Sierra Leonean Citizens and we are keen to addressing such concerns’’, the New United States Ambassador concluded.
In his affirmation to have met with the New United States Ambassador, President Julius Maada Bio confirmed on his Twitter Page that he indeed received the credential of the Ambassador-designate of the United States of America, Bryan David Hunt. President Julius Maada Bio also expressed that Sierra Leone, and the US enjoy a long-standing friendship of over 60 years, built on mutual respect, trust and benefits.
President Julius Maada Bio also intimated that himself and Ambassador Hunt discussed strategies for deepening cooperation, including health service delivery, democracy and governance, and economic growth. He added that Ambassador Hunt’s extensive experience as a policymaker and his familiarity with African issues make him well-qualified to serve as Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone.
‘’We look forward to strengthening our strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation’’, said President Bio.
