As a result of recent successes made by the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in nabbing huge consignment of materials used to make Kush at the Queen Elizabeth Quay, the police have called on the International Police Organization (Interpol) to collaborate with them in order to expose the syndicate.

These hard substances worth millions of Leones were caught on 6th and 9th August and the consignee, one Komrabai Kamara, a resident of 14 Samuel Lane is still in police custody and he is not cooperating in terms of exposing the supply chain.

The Deputy Spokesman of the SLP, ASP Samuel Saio Conteh has said they are seeking the assistance of Interpol noting that strategically, tactically and operationally the SLP have put things in place to get rid of the syndicate as quick as possible.

The influx of Kush have been affecting the youth population steadily, in Waterloo for instance, there are fatalities due to Kush. In Rokel someone cut off his hand after smoking Kush and stabbing took place in Pujehun due to the consumption of the hard substance.

A Forty-nine year old sand miner in the Western Rural District, Sorie Kamara told A-Z newspaper that there is need for community participation against Kush. He said it would be difficult for the police to succeed in the fight considering the fortune retailers and whole sellers are making from its trade.

Mbalu Koroma said the youths are getting crazier than ever. She added that the crime rate in Waterloo has increased due to the intake of Kush especially. She called on the SLP to patrol especially in hard to reach communities where she said Kush has become the order of the day

In the Eastern Province, however, community people in Kenema approached the SLP for support to nab Kush operatives.
