The Western Area Football Association has on Thursday 4th August 2021 take a decision through it Disciplinary Committee under the ongoing WAFA U-15 Searching for Stars has withdrawn Freetown Copenhagen Football Club from the competition due to the recent misconduct displayed by the Club’s supporters and also for putting the match officials’ life in danger.
The Rules and Regulation of WAFA, Article, 29.3 states that: “Clubs shall be held responsible for the misconduct of their supporters before, during and after a match.”
In addition, the referees report presented show that Freetown Copenhagen FC caused the following;
1. Inciting club supporters to assault the officiating team.
2. Halting the match from continuing in the 70 minute and encouraging an unhealthy demonstration in the field of play.
Also, in a meeting held on Friday 23rd July, 2021 at WAFA Secretariat before the commencement of the league, it was communicated to all U-15 teams that any club that may put the match into disrepute will be expelled from the on-going WAFA U-15 Searching for Stars.
Considering the above decision, for the other teams in group one (1), the Committee has decided that three points and three goals has been awarded to all the remaining four teams in the group with immediate effect.
Further, the Disciplinary Committee has fined the management of Philip Football Club the sum of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (250,000) for attempting to field in three (3) unregistered players in the match encounter with United Eagles FC at the SLFA Academy Field on Wednesday 4th August, 2021. The said fine must be paid on or before Philip FC next match. Failing to pay on due date, severe penalty will be levied on the management of Philip FC.
In addition, the Head Coach for Philip FC Joseph Harding has been banned for one match for using invective words on the officiating team in the same match.
Tornado Football Club has been fined the sum of One Hundred Thousand Leones (100,000) for failing to report on match kick off time between Olympafrica Football Club at the Stadium Practicing Field on Wednesday 4th August, 2021. The said fine must be paid on or before Tornado Football Club next match. Failing to pay on due date, severe penalty will be levied on the management of Tornado Football Club.
The Disciplinary Committee has also fined the management of Linda Football Club the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Thousand Leones (350,000) for attempting to field in seven (7) unregistered players in the match encounter with Wilberforce Community FC at the Parade Playing Field on Wednesday, 4th August, 2021. The said fine must be paid on or before Linda FC next match. Failing to pay on due date, severe penalty will be levied on the management of Linda FC.
On this note, WAFA wants to warn all participating clubs in the ongoing U-15 Searching for Stars to desist from unhealthy and unsportsmanlike conduct throughout the competition. Any Clubs that is caught in such act will be withdrawn from the competition.
