WAFA Notifies Members Ahead Of Extraordinary General Assembly

The Western Area Football Association has in a Letter notifies its members that there is going to be an extra Ordinary General Assembly across the Urban District and Rural District.

The notification of the Extra Ordinary General Assembly is in line with Article 9, sub-session (1) (2), and (3) of the Western Area statute and the General Assembly is stated on the following dates.

1. The Urban District is on the 10th of June 2023

2. The Rural District is on the 11th of June 2023

3. The Region is on the 30th of June 2023.

The Letter from the Western Area Football Association forwarded that the place following events will take place will be communicated and that all convocation details will be made available within the stipulated time frame.

On short notice, the membership has been informed to go and collect their nomination forms at the Secretariat 19th Hennessy Street in Kingtom and distribution of the forms will be close on the 1st June 2023.

It is recalled the Elections across all regions could have been before this time, but sources with the corridors state that it was because there was no fund to conduct these elections across the Regions. It is clear that most of the member’s mandate has expired and they need to renew their mandate and that can only be done through elections if the membership is still in line with the current Executive they will vote in that executive for another term in Office.

As the Election draws closer the four Candidates have shown up to contest for the Chairmanship of the Western Area Football Association the large Region in the Country.

The current acting Chairman Pastor Philip Buck the owner of Evangelist Ministry’s female side has made it clear that he is contesting for the position of chairmanship, and from his side, there are huge plans he wants to bring to transform the region’s Football Structures for better Footballing.

Noel Kitamin Horton is a one-time Team Manager of Central Parade Football Club now Wilberforce Striker FC is another Candidate who has shown up to contest for the hot seat, he is well known within the Football Family, and from his side he wants to rebrand WAFA and make it people centre with key structures from all levels.

Abdul Barrie fondly called (BK) is the owner of Standard Football Club a Division One side, and is another Candidate contesting for the hot seat of the Western Area Football Association according to him there is a need for the Western Area to be rebranded and structured the region and organized competitions across all levels and gives team’s activities plans to work on in every year.

Chris Massaquoi the owner of Estate Contractors Football Club is also another Executive member of the current regime that has made his intention clear to contest for the hot seat, from his side he said there are lots of lapses within WAFA and that it is time the region get transformation and if the delegate votes him, he is going to change a lot in WAFA.
