On the 3rd June 2021 the Vice President has officially turned sod for the Construction of National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) in the North-West Rigional Office, Lungi Road in Port Loko City.
The Vice President underscored the significance of the proposed new Office of NASSIT and said that the sustenance of human capital development introduced by President Bio and bringing of hope to retire workers is the National Social Security and Insurance Trust.
He continued to reiterate that all the workers in the North West will be happy for the proposed establishment of the office as it would help to save cost and time going to Freetown to access NASSIT services.
He said that the people of Port Loko are ready to provide security to the project and embrace any development which will improve their lives.
The Vice President emphasized on the for government offices to be established in Port Loko City including Anti-Corruption Commission, National Revenue Authority and the National Civil Registration Authority.
He said that the President has promised in his last visit to make the new city equal in opportunities to the other three regional headquarters in the country.
Dr Juldeh Jalloh registered his commitment to supervise the project for the successful completion of the NASSIT Office.
National Social Security and Insurance Trust Director General, Mohamed Fuad Daboh said that the proposed new Office construction in Port Loko will be the most modern architectural infrastructure in the provinces.
He said as the local content policy is part of the procedures and processes of NASSIT, the Vice president noted that the scheme hired Leone Construction Company a local contractor after a competitive bidding processed was followed.
The Chairman of the programme who also doubles as the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Lawyer Alpha Timbo said the leadership of NASSIT headed by Mr. Mohamed fuad Daboh must be commended for continuing the vision of the trust by establishing offices in a bid to bring their services to the door step of the customers.
The Chairman said that NASSIT is underpinned by excellence and that the current management is exhibiting distinction in executing its core functions.
The Regent Chief of Bakeh Loko Chiefdom, Foday Santigie Kanu said that the people of Port Loko are very happy for NASSIT for the development strides undertaken by the new direction government.
He said that the NASSIT new Office will add to the beauty of the city as he recounted on the suffering of the people to access its services before the institution opened a rented office.
The chief further acknowledged the critical role played by both the North – West Region Minister and the late Paramount Chief, PC Adikalie Modi Mela II to acquire the land for the office after series of controversies.
Resident Minister North-West Region, Haha Isata Abdulai Kamara said that Port Loko is rising with influx of development projects under the New Direction Government of President Julius Maada Bio.
She acknowledged the contractor of the building construction project for employing the people of Port Loko so that they could be part of history making in the district.
She called on NASSIT to bring in low cost housing facilities to the people of the city and the North -West Region.
The Direction General of NASSIT handed the architectural infrastructure design document of the new proposed office in Port Loko City to Vice President Juldeh Jalloh, which was displayed to cheering Portloko residents.
