The Accountant of Vita Foam Sierra Leone Limited, Isaac Anjorin has been allegedly duped by a motorbike Rider the sum of Le60, 000,000.

The accused Sheku Kalma on the 8th July, 2022 made his first appearance before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.2 for the offences of Conspiracy to defraud and causing money to be paid to another by means of fraud contrary to section 32 of the larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offences, on Tuesday 26th July, 2022 at Goderich Road Lumley in Freetown, the accused conspired with other persons unknown to defraud and fraudulently caused the Complainant Isaac Anjorin to pay the sum of Le60,000,000 to Mustapha who purported to be the owner of one maroon color Toyota Highlander vehicle with registration No. ATM 250, knowing same to be false.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person and he pleaded not guilty

Led in evidence by Inspector Amie Korio, first Prosecution Witness one Isaac Anjorin who told the court that he is an Accountant working for Vita Foam SL/Ltd said he recognized the accused person and recalled on the aforesaid date when the accused told him that he has someone who has vehicle for sale, adding that the accused introduced to him Mustapha, who he said was the actual owner of the vehicle.

According to him he went to Lumley and view the said vehicle, upon that he asked the accused about the vehicle life card but he told him that it was stolen, adding that he therefore went to the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority to ascertain the missing life card of the said vehicle.

He furthered stated that he made the payment to Mustapha in presence of the accused, adding that they signed the documents for the aforesaid vehicle.

PW1 said upon entering into the compound where the vehicle was parked, Mustapha on boarded on a motorcycle and left the scene.

According to him when the vehicle was moved out, unknown men approached him and said the vehicle was not owned by Mustapha and that they do not know Mustapha.

In summary, PW1 said his driver went to the Lumley Police Division and made the report.

Under cross examination by the accused, PW1 confirmed that the accused introduced him to Mustapha as the car owner, adding that Mustapha immediately left the scene after receiving the money.

The accused further asked PW1 that he was the one that called the police when the unknown men attacked PW1 for the vehicle,

PW 1 responded in the negative.

At this stage, the Bench asked the accused of the where about of Mustapha, he replied that he does not know.

The matter was adjourned to the 14th July, 2022 for further hearing, while the accused was sent to the male correctional center in Freetown
