Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh held a constructive discussion with teams from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the World Bank on critical issues affecting Sierra Leone’s health sector.

The meeting highlighted the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening healthcare systems, with a focus on advancing universal health coverage and ensuring sustainable health financing despite fiscal challenges.

During the discussions, Vice President Jalloh reiterated the government’s dedication to implementing the Health Financing Act, designed to establish a comprehensive framework for funding health initiatives. He emphasized the need for inter-ministerial coordination to effectively advance the Act’s objectives, ensuring that all sectors work together to enhance health services nationwide.

“We are grateful for our partnerships with both the WHO and World Bank, which are instrumental in supporting the government’s efforts to implement meaningful health reforms, particularly in a fiscally constrained environment,” Jalloh said. He highlighted that these collaborations are vital for mobilizing resources and technical expertise to strengthen Sierra Leone’s healthcare infrastructure.

The discussions come at a crucial time as Sierra Leone seeks to improve health outcomes while managing limited resources. The Vice President’s commitment to universal health coverage reflects its essential role in promoting public health and economic stability.

Concluding the meeting, Dr. Jalloh reaffirmed the government’s determination to achieve tangible progress in health financing and service delivery, with the ultimate goal of improving the well-being of all Sierra Leoneans.
