Over the past week, Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, engaged key development partners as part of ongoing efforts to advance national development priorities, with a strong focus on improving the lives of citizens.
These engagements reflected his people-centered leadership approach, emphasizing collaboration that delivers practical results for communities.
According to the Vice President, the discussions included meetings with the Regional Coordinator of Catholic Relief Services and the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, H.E. Zhao Yong.
The meetings focused on programmatic and technical support aligned with the objectives of the country’s Medium Term National Development Plan, the 2024–2030 blueprint for achieving middle-income status by 2039.
VP Jalloh noted that sustained partnerships with development actors are critical for strengthening national systems and ensuring that development interventions respond to the real needs of the population. He emphasized that effective cooperation must translate into tangible benefits for ordinary citizens.
Health was a major topic during the discussions. The Vice President provided updates on the new Health Financing Strategy, describing it as a key instrument for improving access to sustainable and quality healthcare services nationwide.
He also highlighted the recently endorsed Health Compact, a national framework designed to enhance healthcare delivery through strengthened primary health systems. He stressed that this initiative is central to improving health outcomes, particularly for vulnerable groups.
As outlined by the Vice President on social media, these engagements underscore the government’s commitment to people-focused development, strengthened partnerships, and reforms that place citizens’ welfare at the heart of national planning and implementation
