Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh inaugurated a new Community Market at Kola Tree, aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by the Zion Community, particularly its women. The market is expected to reduce the need for long journeys to the nearest market, thereby providing convenience and fostering economic opportunities for local residents.

In his address, Vice President Jalloh emphasized the government’s commitment to improving the lives of its citizens through practical initiatives. “The newly constructed Community Market is a testament to our dedication to enhancing the well-being of our communities, particularly women who are integral to our local economies,” he stated.

Recognizing the pivotal role of women in economic development, the government has pledged to provide microcredit facilities to women entrepreneurs operating within the new market. This initiative aims to support and expand their small businesses, enabling them to contribute more significantly to the local economy. The financial assistance is designed to foster entrepreneurship and unlock the potential of women in Sierra Leone.

In addition to the market inauguration, Vice President Jalloh launched a community development fund targeting communities along the Wellington-Masiaka Highway corridor. The fund is intended to support various infrastructure projects, including education and healthcare, thereby enhancing the overall quality of life in the region.

The community development fund received a significant boost with a donation of Le 1,050,000 from the China Railway Seventh Group. This contribution is expected to inspire further donations from other companies and organizations, bolstering development efforts along the highway corridor.

The establishment of the fund was driven by proactive efforts from Sierra Leone’s Members of Parliament, who recognized the urgent need for sustainable development in the country. Their initiative underscores a commitment to uplifting local communities and promoting long-term growth.

Dr. Jalloh concluded by reiterating the government’s focus on empowering women and promoting community development. “We are taking significant strides toward creating a prosperous and inclusive society for all,” he affirmed.

These initiatives highlight Sierra Leone’s ongoing efforts to improve living conditions and economic opportunities for its citizens, reinforcing the government’s dedication to fostering a more equitable and thriving nation.
