Sulaiman Koroma, a mechanic, appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on Tuesday, facing a charge of Fraudulent Conversion, contrary to Section 20 (1) (iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Friday, 24th October 2025, at Lightfoot Boston Street in Freetown, Western Area, Koroma allegedly fraudulently converted property entrusted to him for safekeeping. The items in question included one vehicle battery valued at NLe 2,000, two headlights, each valued at NLe 800, for a total value of NLe 3,600, which was entrusted to him by the complainant, Alusine Koroma.

When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, Koroma pleaded *not guilty.

Prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Wilson requested a short adjournment to call the first witness and to serve the defendant with the court bundle. The defendant expressed that he did not wish to cross-examine any of the prosecution’s witnesses and preferred for the matter to be tried summarily, a request which was granted by the court. At the time of the hearing, the defendant was not represented by a lawyer.

Magistrate Fornah also issued subpoenas for the absent prosecution witnesses.

The case has been adjourned to 10th November 2025 for further proceedings.
