US House of Representatives Invites Education Minister …Testifying on Free Quality Education

A formal invite has been sent to the Minister of Education Hon. David Sengeh from the US House of Representative. He is invited to attend a special hearing entitled: Improving Access to Quality Public Education in Africa. The Minister of Education is required to testify the Sierra Leone experience in its free quality education initiative. The hearing allow how expert ideas can be proffered for the US government to support free and quality education on the African continent. The hearing will especially seek to influence legislations that balance access with quality especially for rural settings to target women and disable persons. It is also the intention of the organizers of this event to learn best practice for coordination among international firms and NGOs to foster partnership with African countries in furtherance of the objective of this plan. Perceptions about accessibility of education in rural areas and for women are also going to form key point of discussion in the planned hearing. How teachers are positioned in the free quality education process in the midst of COVID 19 will also be interrogated. The issue of the importance of technology in it all has been factored for consideration in the deliberation on access to free and quality education in Africa.  Chairing this hearing is Gregory W Meeks who wrote the letter of invite to Education Minister Hon. David Sengeh.
