Thirty-two-year-old Musa Jawara, a Supervisor at Unix Company, made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at the Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on two charges: Larceny by Servant and Fraudulent Embezzlement. The charges are in violation of the Larceny Act of 1916, specifically section 17 (1) (a) for larceny and section 17 (1) (b) for embezzlement.
According to the particulars of the offence, between April and August 2025, at two separate locations #6 New Signal Hill Road and #73 Adelaide Street in Freetown Jawara, in his capacity as a servant to Abdel Kadir Ocak, allegedly stole a sum of three hundred and forty-four thousand, eight hundred seventy Leones (344,870) from his employer.
The second count further states that on the same dates and at the same locations, Jawara, while serving as the supervisor for Unix Company, fraudulently embezzled one tonne (1,000 liters) of concert chemical, valued at one hundred and ten thousand Leones (110,000), which was also the property of Abdel Kadir Ocak.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was entered.
The Prosecutor, Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, requested a short adjournment to allow for the presentation of the first witness. Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah denied bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the male correctional facility in Freetown.
