United Team Sierra Leone Advances Regional Cooperation

An eight-member delegation from United Team Sierra Leone (U Team SL), led by Madam Watta Koroma, has concluded a four-day diplomatic mission to Monrovia, Liberia. The visit aimed to deepen regional integration and strengthen cooperation through strategic stakeholder engagement and partnership building.

During the mission, the delegation met with Ambassador Eddy S. Massally and Deputy Ambassador Lusanie Kallon of the Sierra Leone Embassy in Monrovia. Discussions focused on U Team SL’s Six-Year Strategic Development Plan (2024-2030) and its alignment with Sierra Leone’s Mid-Term National Development Plan. Embassy officials commended the organization’s proactive efforts to empower Sierra Leoneans particularly youth and women and pledged their support for its initiatives.

The delegation also engaged with Mr. Christian W. Jallah Sr., Resident Representative and Coordinator of the Mano River Union (MRU) Sub-Office in Monrovia. Talks centered on youth development, civic participation, and inclusive growth. The MRU expressed readiness to collaborate with U Team SL, emphasizing the importance of partnerships with volunteer and civil society organizations in advancing regional stability and development.

Additional high-level meetings were held with Senator Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr., Head of Liberia’s Delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament; Senator Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate; and Madam Cornelia Wonkerleh Kruah, Liberia’s Minister of Youth and Sports Designate. Discussions focused on strengthening regional cooperation, promoting youth empowerment, and advancing sports development as tools for social inclusion.

The delegation also met with Her Excellency Josephine Nkrumah, ECOWAS Resident Representative in Monrovia. She commended U Team SL’s work and encouraged the organization to continue promoting good governance, democracy, and technical skills development across the region. In recognition of ECOWAS’ commitment to regional integration and cooperation, the delegation presented her with an Award of Recognition.

The mission concluded with a condolence visit to former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor and a dinner engagement hosted by Senator Edwin Snowe, reaffirming mutual commitments to regional collaboration.

U Team SL expressed appreciation for the warm reception and hospitality extended during the visit and reiterated its dedication to fostering regional integration under its guiding motto, “We Are Stronger Together.”
