The President of unique International Academy old boys and girls association (UUSA) Samuel Gumbu Yarjah has described the 12 years anniversary of the school as 12 years of academic excellence.

He said from the inception of the school to date the school has produced a lot of students who are presently pursuing their education at various colleges in the country.

According to master Yarjah the association took responsibility of this year’s anniversary as a pay back to the cradle of their education and appreciated   the school administration for the good work since the inception of the institution.

Yarjah further stated that the association is just two years old, but has contributed positively to the development of the school although the association is financially challenged.

When asked to know their bench marks since the formation of the organization to date.

Samuel Gumbu Yarjah  intimated   our correspondent  that they   have organized  quiz and debate competitions among pupils attending unique International Academy,  conducted seminals and have  assisted their teachers whenever they come for holidays.

In his statement Lamin Banga from one of the humanitarian organizations in the country and the world as whole Red Cross International noted  that Unique international academy has filled the gap of humanity as far as  the need for education is concern in Kono adding that most of the issues around education in Kono cannot be unconnected with what he described as access to education which is yet to be solved as there are still challenges with access to higher education in Kono as we are yet to have the University of  Science  and Technology  established  and functional in Kono District.

In his keynote address, the Inspector of School Tankoro Division Komba Y. Sogbor, propounded on two theories.

He said Unique International Academy has organised a system which is one of the strongest factors for the success and development of any organization in the world. He noted that it is well set of system that determines the smooth running of any organization. Adding that, there are three components that make up a good system.

Input processing and output which according to him, all the three components are intact in the school.

Explaining the theory of existentialism, Inspector Sorgbo explained that the decision you made yesterday, will affect your today, tomorrow and in the future. On his part, the Proprietor of the aforesaid institution, Jusu Sheriff when explaining the history of how the school came into existence.

He maintained that when he was transferred to Kono in 2006 whilst working for Celtel Sierra Leone now called orange Sierra Leone,

“At one time after work I was listening to a radio where I heard people analysing education system in the district after the war, I had a dream of establishing a school to reform the educational system in the District which I shared with two of my colleagues, they accepted but later paid little or no attention, so I established the school with the motive of giving free education to the children in Kono, but I was advised not to make it free by some people”, he said.

He however expressed profound thanks and appreciation to the old boys and girls association for making the 12 years anniversary a successful celebration this year noting that the responsibility and enthusiasm he has seen in the old boys and girls of the institution have put him on his toes to support and promote education and therefore assured them of his unflinching support.
