United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has highlighted FemmeTech, a young and innovative organization, for its remarkable work in promoting digital safety for girls in Sierra Leone.

As part of the UNFPA and Moya Sierra Leone Young Women Leading Change Innovation Challenge, FemmeTech has been championing safer digital spaces for girls across the country.

Through digital literacy and cyber safety sessions in schools, FemmeTech equips girls with practical digital skills and the confidence to navigate online environments safely. The organization’s initiatives embody the principles of agency, opportunity, and safety for every girl, in every space.

On Human Rights Day, UNFPA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting young innovators like FemmeTech, who work tirelessly to create a safer digital world. “A safe digital world does not build itself. It takes people who care. It takes action. It takes all of us,” UNFPA stated.

The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, which coincides with Human Rights Day, underscores the urgent need to address digital violence and safeguard girls’ and women’s rights. FemmeTech’s efforts are a shining example of the positive impact young innovators can have in driving social change.

UNFPA’s focus on digital safety and the fight against online violence is part of its broader mission to ensure that every girl and woman can thrive in a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment.
