Eighteen-year-olds Abubakar Gbla and Abdulai Kandeh made their first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 in Freetown on charges of conspiracy and larceny contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on Thursday, 28 August 2025, at #80 Hill Station, Western Area, the defendants allegedly conspired together and with others unknown to commit a crime.

The second count stated that on the same date and location, the defendants stole cups, plates, spoons, cloths, chains, tiles, a plasma television, bags, watches, bracelets, and other assorted items, the property of the late Dr. Kadie Sesay, which were in the custody of Abass Kanu and Fatmata Conteh.

When the charges were read and explained, the defendants pleaded guilty to both counts. They were not legally represented in court.

Magistrate Fornah refused bail and remanded both defendants to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The case was adjourned to 3 November 2025 for sentencing.
