Isatu Nyama Jawara a pharmacist and Katumu Kanneh a farmer made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on fourteen count charges to wit one count of Conspiracy to commit human trafficking contrary to section 18 of the Anti- human trafficking Act No.7 of 2005 and thirteen count ranging from engaging in human trafficking contrary to section 2 (2) of the Anti- human trafficking Act 2005.
According to the particulars of offence on a diverse dates between the 1st to 20th September 2021 Kenema both accused persons conspired together and with other persons unknown to traffic Yatta Massaqoui, Mamie Dakuwa and Sao Amara from Kenema to Madamaya Kambia, en route to Guinea for the purpose of exploitation and engaged in trafficking in person by the transfer of Ibrahim Mansaray from Kenema to Madamaya, Kambia en route to Guinea by means of deception for the purpose of exploitation.
Prosecution witness number one Sao Dukulay live at Gbogboma dama Kenema District a pupils narrated that she is living with her teacher Mariama in Kenema she know the first accused person as her aunty married in Guinea.
She said she used to know the first accused person in Gbogboma village for native medication that was when she came to know her as her real Aunty at the said village the accused person requested to travel with her to Guinea to Learn Tailoring.
She accepted to the proposal including her parents on Saturday the 1st accused person herself Mamie, Yata, and Cheek left Gbogboma village for Kenema the first accused person hired a vehicle for them to travel to Guinea before they left for Guinea Yata, Abdul, Robert, Ibrahim and another joined them to travel to Guinea the witness said she can’t recalled the name of the others.
The witness said the accused person didn’t travel with them she only provided vehicle for them the color of the said vehicle was blue, white and black but didn’t know the name of the driver.
They travelled on to a point where the vehicle was intercepted they were at the checkpoint until a social worker came to the scene the social worker provided food for them and took them to Donbosco and were relocated to the centre and she later made statement to the police station.
During Cross examination by defense counsel Amos L Baio, he asked the witness on that day where the first accused person was arrested on the same day the witness respond and said no she was not with us, and said the social worker helped her to see her family the witness respond and said yes the social worker took her to his father.
She was identified by her father and she didn’t explain anything to her father she was only identified as her daughter.
Prosecution witness number two Bockarie Moorie a pupil said he is residing with his Mother and Father and he knew his purpose of coming to court and he didn’t know both accused persons he said one man coming from Guinea requested to his parents that he wants to take him to Guinea to Learn the Quran and her parents accepted.
