Two sailors employed by Sea Coach Express, Samuel Benjamin Moiba and Alfred Abdul Karim Koroma, have been remanded in prison by Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1. They are accused of stealing items worth $5,200 from a passenger.
The accused appeared in court for the second time and were arraigned on two charges: Conspiracy to Commit a Felony and Larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the police, on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Sir Samuel Lewis Road, Aberdeen, Freetown, the accused conspired with unknown persons to commit larceny.
They allegedly stole a black suitcase valued at $150, a gray Dell laptop, a black Samsung A23 mobile phone, and other assorted items, totalling $5,200 (NLe 124,800). The stolen property belonged to Dr. Sheriff Emil White and was taken while under the custody of Sea Coach Express management.
During the court session, the charges were read and explained to the accused, but they did not enter a plea. Police Prosecutor Inspector Kadie Taylor requested an adjournment to present witnesses.
Magistrate Kekura granted the request and ordered that the accused remain in custody. The case has been adjourned to March 10, 2025 for further proceedings.
