Two Remanded Over Alleged Car Theft in Freetown

Emmanuel Thomas and Kadiatu Mabinty Kargbo have been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged car theft incident in Freetown. They appeared before Magistrate Sao Mamakoh Betty Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3, facing two counts: conspiracy to commit a crime and larceny, both contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, on 14th July 2025, at No. 3 Bailalie Drive, Freetown, Emmanuel Thomas allegedly conspired with unknown individuals to steal from a Toyota Corolla private vehicle with registration number ARC 755, owned by Robert Kpaker.

The stolen items included one Bluetooth car stereo, twelve 12-amp vehicle batteries, one spare tyre and tash amounting to Le 12,000.

The total value of the stolen property is estimated at Le 17,750.

Detective Police Sergeant Samuel Bammie Level, attached to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at Lumley Division, testified as Prosecution Witness No. 3, led by DPC 1720 J.B. Sannoh.

Sergeant Bammie, who served as the Scene of Crime Officer during the investigation, stated that he recognized the accused persons and recalled visiting the crime scene on the date in question. He confirmed that several items were indeed missing from the vehicle and that he had taken photographs of the damaged car, which were later tendered in court as part of the official record.

Following the testimony, Magistrate Kallon adjourned the matter to 17th September 2025 for further hearing. Meanwhile, both accused persons remain in remand.
