On Friday the 7th of January 2021, the Head of the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) Assistance Commissioner of Police (ACP) Alhaji Bangura, has intimated galaxy of journalists that they have apprehended two Nigerian Nationals.
These Nigerians are deemed to be hardcore drug dealers, Marcelo Zoro and Charles Obina Okonkwo were arrested with 37 cartoons of 225mg of tramadol drugs and 39,400 United States Dollars deemed to be counterfeit.
Explaining the genesis of the arrest, ACP Alhaji Bangura disclosed that on the 28th of December 2021, they arrested a 20 feet container with serial number SUDU7534198 which was inspected at the Queens Elizabeth quay with the pretext of carrying tramadol drugs.
He reaffirmed that 37 cartoons of the drugs were arrested which were found concealed among other goods in the container. He also confirmed that the police was able to arrest the two Nigerian Nationals trying to destroy the fabric of Sierra Leone with drugs.
He reiterated that the two Nigerian Nationals Marcelo Zoro and Charles Obina Okonkwo were arrested after the seizure of the drugs including one Kadie Bangura who happened to be the agent for the drug dealers. He assured that the three suspects are all in police custody pending investigation.
ACP Alhaji Bangura furthered that after the arrested of those hardcore Nigerian Drug Dealers, they decided to conduct a robust search in their premises. During the search operation, he confirmed that the police were able to discover a large cash of 39, 400 counterfeit United States dollars. He also confirmed that the two Nigerian Bandits have too many Bank accounts, passport books, and cheque books,
He continued by informing that the two Nigerians have also registered fake business entities in the country of which they are operating without receipt and home/office address of the Business.
“We have done this so the media would recognize that we are doing our best in ensuring that criminals are hunted down. These are the items seized in their premises and these guys are fake guys”, he concluded.
