Abdul Kamara and Dominic Monrovia, also known as Elon Wise, have been committed to the High Court of Sierra Leone following preliminary proceedings before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown. The two are facing charges of conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretences.

According to the charge sheet, the accused conspired together and with other unidentified individuals between May 15 and May 20, 2025, in Freetown, Western Area, to commit a crime: namely, obtaining money through fraudulent means.

On May 20, 2025, at Masalia Village, Masiaka Town, in Koya Chiefdom, Port Loko District, the accused allegedly obtained $30,000 USD (equivalent to Le720,000) from one Daniel Musa. They reportedly misrepresented themselves as having two fuel tanker trucks for sale, knowing this claim to be entirely false.

During the preliminary investigation, the prosecution presented evidence indicating a prima facie case against both accused. After considering submissions from the prosecution and defence, Magistrate Jah ruled that there was sufficient evidence to proceed to trial in the High Court.

Following the ruling, Abdul Kamara was remanded at the Male Correctional Centre pending the next High Court session. Meanwhile, Dominic Monrovia was granted bail on condition that he remains a resident of Freetown until the case is heard.

The matter has been adjourned and will proceed to trial at the High Court on a date yet to be confirmed.
