A tragic motorbike accident along the 555 area of Koidu City has claimed the lives of two people, leaving a young child in critical condition.
The crash, which occurred along the Masingbi Road, involved a commercial motorbike rider, a woman, and her child. Reports indicate that the trio were traveling from the 555 area toward the Lebanon section of the city when the rider collided with a poorly parked trailer.
Both the rider and the woman died instantly at the scene, while the child sustained serious injuries and remains in critical condition.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the unregistered trailer had been improperly parked, obstructing the road and violating traffic safety regulations. They believe this negligence directly contributed to the fatal accident.
The incident has sparked outrage among commercial motorbike riders in the area, many of whom have blamed the trailer driver’s negligence for the loss of lives. They have called for stricter enforcement of traffic laws, particularly regarding the parking of vehicles along highways and public roads.
In response to the situation, personnel of the Sierra Leone Police have launched preliminary investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
As of press time, no official update has been provided on the condition of the injured child.
