Twenty years old Amelia Karim a Student of FBC and nineteen years old Edith Conteh a Student at FBC made their first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on four count charges to wit Wounding with intent, Wounding and two counts ranging from Assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
According to the particulars of offence on Tuesday 7th March 2023 at Kingdom Hall off Wilkinson road the western area in maliciously wounded and assaulted Alice Maitha in a manner thereby occaisioning him actual bodily harm.
The charges was read and explained to the accused person No plea was taken.
Inspector Musu Edna Kpulun lead Prosecution witness number one Alice Maitha a Student at FBC said she recognized the accused persons and she recalled on the 7th March 2023 she was at Kamayama something transpired between herself and the accused persons she was on top a motorbike moving along Freetown Supermarket Wilkinson road were the accused persons was on top their own motorbike.
The witness said the motorbike of which she was sitting and the one the accused persons was on collided with each other of which she has told the motorbike rider of the accused persons to ride properly.
The witness said the first accused person tells her that she is behaving rudely.
She tells her that she’s not talking to her the witness said she dropped at Kingtom Hall with the accused persons the first accused person tell her that she’s reading diploma but she Acts as if she’s reading a degree programme both accused persons ran after her the second accused person pushed her on the ground.
She got up and went home she informed her sister about what transpired between herself and the accused persons later somebody came and knocked at the door her sister opened the door and the person asked for her telling her that a certain man is calling her then her sister told him that she’s not going anywhere later another lady knocked at the door she went and opened the door the person told her to leave her sister alone.
She asked her who is her sister but she didn’t tell her the said lady pushed her she told her to go outside and she closed the door later herself and her sister went out to purchase water whilst she was waiting.
The first accused person came and pushed her on the floor they attacked her and started fighting her she felt a sharp pain on her stomach and leg both accused persons ran away she shouted for help.
Blood was oozing down her stomach and her leg.
She informed her sister about what happened she made report at Lumley police station she was given a police medical report form she went to Lumley hospital she was treated and later returned to the police with the medical request form the medical request form was produced and tendered in court to form part of the court records it was identified as Z.
The witness said she used her iPhone ten took snapshot of the wounds which was printed in pictures the said pictures was produced and tendered in court as Exhibit B1-2 she made statements to the said police station.
The witness was cross examined by S.B Bangura.
Meanwhile, magistrate Gogra granted the accused persons bail in the sum of twenty million Leones each with two sureties each in like sum sureties to be resident in the Western Area.
Both sureties to produce valid identity cards.
One surety to be gainfully employed in a government institution in Sierra Leone.
Bail to be approved by the bench.
The matter remains adjourned to the 17th March 2023 for further hearing.
