Magistrate Sao Betty Mamakoh Kallon of Pademba Road Court No. 3 has committed two defendants, Kenneth Beah Boye and Mohamed Kandeh Sesay, to stand trial at the High Court. The defendants are charged with two counts of Fraudulent Conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, on Sunday, 20th July 2025, at No. 59 Smart Lane, New England Village in Freetown, the defendants allegedly fraudulently converted to their own use a property entrusted to them for safekeeping. The property in question is described as a blue and black motorbike with registration number AWA 159, valued at twenty-six thousand Leones, which belonged to Kallon Conteh.
The prosecution claims that the motorbike had been given to the defendants for safekeeping, but instead, they converted it to their personal use.
When the charges were read in court, no plea was taken from the defendants. After preliminary hearings, Magistrate Kallon ruled that the case is indictable and beyond the jurisdiction of the magistrate’s court. As a result, she ordered the matter to be transferred to the High Court for trial.
The defendants have been committed to stand trial in the High Court. Inspector T. Macfoy prosecuted the matter.
