Adikalie Suma alias kalamasinah, Mohamed Bangura alias pobom and Kamanda Sankoh were on Friday 30 September 2022 sent to prison by magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba road court No1 for allegedly setting fire on the dwelling house of one Abubakar Suleiman Kamara.
The accused persons who made their first appearance in court were arraigned on one count charge of Arson Contrary to section 3 of the Malicious damage act 1861.
According to the charge, it was alleged that the accused persons on Wednesday 6 July 2022, at No4 Mamah Lane Kambia 2 in the Magbema chiefdom in the Kambia judicial district maliciously set on fire the dwelling house of Abubakar Suleiman Kamara with intent to damage properties.
When the charges were read to the accused persons, they pleaded not guilty.
ASP I S Mansaray prosecuting informed the court that the complainant is present but could not proceed with the matter.
Defense lawyer G Conteh applied for bail on behalf of the accused persons citing section 79 sub section (2) of the criminal procedure act 1965.
He added that though the offences for which they are in court is very serious but said it is bailable and also a mere allegation, adding that they have been in police custody for over two months.
Magistrate Ngegba having listened to his application however refused bail on the grounds that he has not heard the evidence.
The matter was adjourned to 7th October 2022 whiles the accused persons were remanded in prison.
