The Sierra Leone Tug of War Association, Sierra Leone Mas-Wrestling Association and the Sierra Leone Kabadi Association, has paid a civility call on the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima at her Bishop House office, Brookfields in Freetown.
The delegation which consists of athletes, officials and administrators of the three associations were welcomed by the acting Director of Sports, Momodu Alpha who also chaired the programmed.
Statements were made by the President of the Sierra Leone Mas Wrestling Association, Noel Kitami Horton, President’s Sierra Leone Kabadi Association Sunny Johnson, who is also the Technical Director of the three sporting disciplines, the Hon. Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima and Steven Keifala-Director of Participation Sustainable Sports at the National Sports Authority.
In Statement Madam Augusta James-Teima said Sierra Leone is blessed with a lots talents in the field of Sports and Sports is not only about Football, but there are other Sporting disciplines that will take athletes to places to represent the Country and bring back home laurels from their participation in the international stage. Noting that it good that bothTug of War Association, Kabadi sport and Mass Wrestling Association encourage women to be part of the Sport which has shown that women’s also has a role to play in Sport.
She affirmer that it important for three sports to be popularized across the Country and International stage as well to encourage more Youth to belong in the Sports, noting that the Ministry of Sports is ready to help play the supervising role for them to get Government Support in representing the Country.
Sonny Johnson the head Coach of the three sports said it has been a good for the Athletes during their training sessions, noting all the Athletes trained as one but with three different sports and it has been competitive throughout in different sessions.
He affirmed that at present they are preparing for three International events in Ireland, America and Indian in the coming months. Noting that the athletes are in top gears to represent the Country with aim of bring laurels back home.
Noel Kitmai Horton the President of Mass Wrestling Association while making his statement started by congratulating the newly appointed Minister of Sport saying that a Federation their aims is to take three sports in different places with the aim of bring laurels back home in their respective international competitions.
Three Sporting disciplines are currently bracing up for their International competitions in the coming months starting in November this Year.
