The Sierra Leone Roads Authority(SLRA) has proactively informs the general public that the Bumpeh bridge along the Tikonko junction-Matru Jong road, is currently out of use as a result of an accident caused by a low-bed trailer transporting a heavy duty machine across the bridge from Bo to Mattru.
Meanwhile, motorist who wished to travel to and from Matru Jong should use the Taima- Sembehum road until the road is fixed and save for use.
The public is further informed that the SLRA in collaboration of the Engineering department of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) is currently engaged in emergency responses.
These include: Mobilizing personnel and equipment at the site of the accident to remove the trailer that is stuck in the bridge as soon as possible. It has been resolved that immediately after an immediate full scale technical assessment will be made on the bridge.
This would enable the SLRA to effectively carryout repairs on the bridge.
The general public should be reminded that the government has awarded works contract for the first phase of the re-construction of the Tikonko junction-Matru Jong Road.it should be noted that the contractor is mobilizing personnel and equipment for the actual work to commence.
The SLRA therefore regrets any inconveniency caused to motorist and the general public using that route and promised to quickly amend the damaged part of the bridge so that traffic would flow.
