Lillian a trader made her first appearance before Magistrate Peter Brima Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on a private criminal summons on four count charges to wit assault occasioning actual bodily harm, public insult and provocation, Abusive language and threatening language.
According to the particulars of offence on the 27th January 2023 at Congo Market the western area in Freetown assaulted Joya Taylor in a manner thereby occasioning her actual bodily harm.
On count two the accused person in full view of the public and in the presence of the complainant Joya Taylor did make use of insulting and provocative words against the said complainant in such a manner as would likely to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.
On count three at the same place and date, the accused person in the full view of the public did make use of abusive language against the said complainant with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace.
On count four the accused person at the same place and date did make use of threatening language against the said complainant with intent to provoke her to commit a breach of the peace
The charge was read and explained to the accused person she pleaded not guilty.
Counsel representing the accused person M.M Bawoh applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person that she is a Sierra Leonean resident within this jurisdiction that she has credible sureties who are willing and ready to go into recognizance on her behalf.
Cousel said she will not interfere with prosecution witness or witnesses he made his application pursuant to section 79 3 of the Criminal procedure Act No.32 of 1965.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Gogra granted the accused person bail in the sum of ten million Leones with two sureties in like sum.
Sureties to be resident in the western area and sureties to produce valid identity card depicting his or her addresses in Freetown.
Both sureties should be gainfully employed from a government institution in Sierra Leone.
One surety to be above 55yrs old and above bail to be approved by the bench.
Matter adjourned to the 20th February 2023 for further hearing.
