Police in Pujehun District are presently investigating the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death of the town chief of Batahoi in Kpanga chiefdom Pujehun District. In an interview with A-Z, the community relations and information officer of the Sierra Leone Police Pujehun division assistant superintendent of police John Kenawa Squire maintained that two men Tommy Edward Koroma and Abdul Kondoh of Batahoi town on Monday 27th June,2022 officially reported at the Pujehun Police Station the alleged missing of the Seventy two years old town chief of Batahoi Munda Koroma.
According to the report on Sunday 26th June,2022 at around 11:am Chief Munda Koroma together with a man identified as Lahai AKA Catsco went on a fishing expedition noting that since then the seventy two years old man was nowhere to be seen in Pujehun District.
ASP Squire said after obtaining the said report from the aforementioned men the police asked them and the rest of mankind in Batahoi town to go in search of the missing chief for at least seventy two hours adding it was during the said search the remains of the missing chief were discovered nearby a river in Pujehun district.
As police investigation into the said matter is ongoing at least four men including Lahai who went on a fishing expedition with the deceased are in Police custody helping them in their investigation the community relations and information officer attached to the Pujehun Police division maintained. In a Similar engagement he intimated our A-Z that a forty two year old pregnant woman as a result of domestic violence has lost her life.
According to ASP Squire on Monday 6th June,2022 at around 7:pm the husband of the deceased Abdul Koroma reported at the police station that his wife Juma Koroma was assaulted by at least four of her in-laws noting in the evening hours of that fateful day Juma Koroma gave up the ghost at the Pujehun Government Hospital whilst responding to treatment.
He furthered that wounding with intent and the practice of charms without license are the other crimes under their investigations.
