The regional staff of the Environmental Protection Agency, Bo Branch, has paid a courtesy call on the Regional Police Commander South AIG William Fayia Sellu at his Regional office in Bo to further strengthen their partnership with security sector to protect the environment.
The Regional Manager of the Environmental Protection Agency South Mr. Joseph Gbassa informed the AIG that their purpose of visit is to discuss on the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the SLP and the EPA in a bid to support the operations of the Environmental Protection Agency when needed.
He further maintained that they want to see how best they can strengthen the collaboration between the SLP and the EPA in pursuance of executing their mandates in the southern region.
He added that the SLP has been very instrumental in supporting their activities and therefore requested for continued police assistance to EPA for such operations.
In response, the Regional Police Commander South, AIG Fayia Sellu thanked the Regional Manager of EPA South for the concerns he raised. He maintained that the SLP has been providing security backup to other MDAs and the EPA is not an exception.
“We have other duties to perform so if you have any task to perform, liaise with the OSD commanders and the head of land / precious mineral unit for such operations” AIG Sellu said and reassured them of his unflinching support at all times.
The information and Education Communication Officer of EPA, Mr. Fomba Sheriff thanked AIG for his commitment and support towards the success of the EPA operations and the cordial working relationship they enjoy between the SLP and the EPA in Bo City .
