With support from BMZ and German Doctors, Commit and Act Foundation Sierra Leone (CAF-SL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation has officially launched its new project titled ‘Sexual and Reproductive Health Right in Bo, Bombali and Tonkolili Districts in Sierra Leone.

Speaking at the launch of the project, the Founder and Director of  Commit and Act Foundation  Sierra Leone, Hannah Yambasu said that the project will engage stakeholders at all levels to ensure their involvement and support of the community people to ensure the sustainability of the project.

She emphasized that the project will also coordinate and collaborate with like-minded organizations and other relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies to enhance impact, adding that the project will target one thousand, eight hundred and sixty-eight people in the three districts, and to contribute to the reduction of sexual penetration of girls in society.

The project, she said, will empower the community people to advocate for the girl’s sexual and reproductive rights and to also hold duty bearers accountable. It is about advocacy and lobbying as it deals with different types of youths but particularly focuses on women and girls on how they access health care.

Speaking to A-Z Newspaper after the launch of the project, the women in Bo lauded Commit and Act Foundation-SL for the launch of the project and called on the donors to continue supporting the project as the sexual and reproductive rights of the women and girls are crucial for the overall development.

Jattu Mammy said that this project will help in the education of the girl child as a lot of drops out of school are a result of the low education on Sexual and reproductive health sensitization.
