Three men Joseph Bangura, 33, a footballer; Samuel Jallohson, 29, a businessman; and Mohamed Sesay, 27, a fisherman has each been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1.
The convicts were charged on two counts: conspiracy to commit a crime, contrary to law, and larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the police file, the offences occurred on Wednesday, 14 July 2025, at Murray Town, where the three accused conspired with other persons unknown to commit the crime of larceny.
The prosecution further stated that on the same date and at the same location, the accused persons, acting jointly with others unknown, broke into a Honda CR-V vehicle, bearing registration number AWD 825, and stole various items belonging to Gladys Nanilla Kamara.
The stolen items included US$3,861 (equivalent to Le2,717), a Samsung mobile phone valued at Le1,000, a power bank valued at US$208 (equivalent to Le4,990), one Air phone, one pair of lens glasses, two service passport booklets, one computer bag, and other personal effects. The total value of the stolen items was estimated at Le132,724.
After hearing the evidence, the court found the defendants guilty as charged and sentenced each of them to five years’ imprisonment at the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
