Considering the importance of education being keen to the development of any country, the Theological College in the Western Rural district has introduced what is referred to as flexible model of admission as a way of making it easier for students to enroll with the college.
James Soa Koroma, the Academic Deen of Theological College has confirmed that this model has led to more admissions of students into the college since they are being flexible with regards payment of fees. He said the college has seen the need to create the enabling environment for those who do not have the opportunity to pay fees on time; giving them the timeline to make payment.
He noted that the focus of the college is not to make money for the Principal and lecturers but to contribute immensely towards the human capital development of Sierra Leone. He pointed out that they have addressed other areas of needs that’s why they introduced courses like Community Development Studies, Adult education, certificate and degree courses and even Masters programmes are offered at this institution through their affiliates, he concluded.
Former students of the college told this medium that the training they acquired at the college made them what they are today in society.
According to students, the college administration is making the environment conducive for them adding that they are allowed to pay their fees in halves until payments are completed.
The Evangelical College, it could be recalled, was founded in 1957 but formally commissioned in 1964 primarily for the training of Pastors and church workers in those days. However, the influx of products of the college into society extended the demand for more enrolments including non-Christians.
